COIL ADVISORY TEACHER DESCRIPTION

COIL teachers help parents and students develop a personalized curriculum for each student that is based on individual learning styles, intelligences, learning needs and CA state standards. All members of the student’s personalized learning team; student, parent and teacher, set academic goals at the first meeting, agree on assignments to meet these goals for all courses and meet again, typically, in two weeks, to evaluate the success of the learning plan. At that time, adjustments are made to the curriculum and utilized materials, if necessary, to ensure the academic growth of the student. Additionally, assessment in mathematics and ELA are given to gain a baseline point of reference.
